As the subject says. I've already submitted feedback, but essentially when you get a new calendar event, the calendar app shows the notification badge, but not the widget. I've replaced the app on my home screen with the widget ... but I'll need to keep the app on the home screen so I can tell at a glance when I need to drill into calendar.

I don't know if other widgets get notifications, but for something like this, it's going to be necessary for that widget to be truly useful without requiring the app itself be sitting on the same screen with it.

Widgets can’t show notification badges. I can understand why this would be a nice feature but widgets are not app icon replacements

They didn't use to, it's true. But they also didn't used to exist on the home screen, or come in different sizes, or be intelligently stackable.

If I can't get notifications on the Calendar widget, that means I need to have both on my home screen if I want the widget; not getting notifications is not an option. So, either only Calendar app icon, or Calendar app icon + Widget? No, that needs to change.
