I believe this is useful if you are sharing calendar info with others (to schedule a meeting for example).
Some events on your calendar like a meeting or appointment take your personal attention, so you are “busy.”
You could also put something on your calendar that doesn’t effect you personally, so the event would be there but you would be “free.”
