I'm setting up a new machine and clearing out some old stuff. Trying to decide whether or not to set up some new calendars on iCloud instead of Google Calendar.

I have a bunch of old ones on Google Calendar, but was curious to hear people's experiences, positive or negative, with iCloud Calendar syncing to phones and desktops vs. Google Calendar syncing.

thanks!

Since I use Apple products (Macbook Air, iPhone) I prefer to have all my things under one roof (iCloud).

Of course if you're don't use Apple products then you would probably want to use Google calendar.

Any reliability issues as far as syncing goes?

Wow. That was so easy. I exported from Google Calendar and it spat out a bunch of .ics files. Opened each one in OS X Calendar and everything imported perfectly and syncs were pushed right out to my other Mac and my iPhone.

The only issue is that all the old events came through as being in the UTC time zone (I'm on East Coast time). They show up correctly in the calendar, but it's a little wonky. New events seem to be being created with the EDT time zone like they're supposed to.

is there a way to search icloud.com calendars? seems strange that contacts and emails are both searchable, but not calendars...
