This is probably a silly question, but lately, I've been having a problem with my iPad shutting down. It will drop to between 50% and 75% then shut off, and when I plug it in it shows a "low battery" icon. BUT, when it comes back on the charge shows between 50% and 75%. I think it needs calibration, but I can't find online the instructions to do so—especially since I can watch the "charge" drop about 1% every 15–20 seconds when I'm using the iPad.

Yeah, the only way I've heard of to "calibrate" any battery is to let it completely deplete and let it sit for a while before charging again, but this sounds like there's just something wrong. How old is the iPad?

If you have an Apple Store that is convenient, my suggestion is to take your iPad there and have them run a diagnostic check on it.

They may also be able to run the diagnostic remotely, you can initiate a support chat on the Apple website and see if they can do that.

If your iPad battery is depleted/faulty then Apple will do a 'Battery Service' on the iPad, which actually means replacing the iPad with a brand new one (of the same spec and colour/capacity). In the UK that service is £99 which is a bargain really.
