Hello,
My daughter has an iPad mini 4. Is there a good app that would enable her to quickly call 911 in case of emergency? And maybe it would automatically give our home address to 911 without her having to relay that information? And maybe she could talk to 911 over the iPad/WiFi?

I've read there is something called "Emergency SOS" for the iPhones, is that what I'm looking for and is that available for iPads?

I'm wanting to get rid of our landline home phone (hardly ever used) to save some on our monthly bills, but I want there to be a way to contact 911 if all of the mobile phones are away from the house. She doesn't have her own mobile phone yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.

I went through similar kinds of thoughts with my son and his iPad (he's too young to have a phone in my opinion). I basically taught him to be very good at using FaceTime and iMessage, both of which can be used on WiFi and told him that if ever anything was wrong to call or message me or my wife (or another relative) through those apps.

Not ideal as he couldn't dial the emergency services with the iPad like you say, but it's quite reassuring to know that he could get hold of people if he needed to.

I don’t have an iPad mini 4 anymore, but iOS 11 has an emergency button when you press the power button quickly five times.

It may not work on an iPad mini 4, but go to:
settings>Emergency SOS>Then Select “Call With Side button” and “Auto-call.” Doing this should allow you the emergency button option.
Hopefully it works, good luck.

That’s only for iPhones. iPads aren’t designed to make calls other than through services like FaceTime or Skype.
