I am getting lots of spam calls so I want to get a call blocker app, though I read by doing so it somehow reveals your number to the spammers? How does this work? Am I missunderstanding it? Are there other privacy issues?

Thanks.

They already have your number if they’ve called you. But if you have an iPhone it has call blocking available. I use nomorobo with my provider and there is an app called HiYa that helps. You can’t completely eliminate them, but putting a little effort into it reduces them. If your provider has nomorobo, it’s cool. If the spammer has been put on its list, your phone will only ring once then the offending call just goes away.

I generally use the block caller feature on the phone app. Obviously it doesn't eliminate all spam calls, but I have a nice list going of those that I have blocked thus far. So it has cut down on the amount of spam calls I get.

You can use your carrier's Caller ID and spam. I used to use TrueCaller app but now Hiya Caller ID and Block app works pretty good. Or Numbo, it’s the highest rated call blocker but monthly subscription.

I've been using Call Protect from ATT and it works good. But it also has me interested in the apps that offer Caller ID. Any suggestions for a call blocker that offers accurate Caller ID also?

RoboKiller is fantastic. I was getting spoofed calls that had my area code and first three of my phone number (making you think it’s local, so you’d answer). If you call the number back, someone completely different would answer. Anyway, Robocaller solves the issue, and even includes some funny, recordable, things to get the spammers back.

The update to Call Protect from ATT is great. I subscribed to the enhanced caller id and so far I’ve got the name for every call received.
