Call Forwarding

When you use the call forwarding option and forward to a landline are you still charged minutes for the call?

A friend of mine said this was the case though it didn't seem to make much sense...

I was going to forward calls when I'm home to my landline to minimize minute usage but if it still charges me minutes thats just pointless...

Sprint charged me for forwarding a cell call.
I have never been charged by Cingular for forwarded calls.
