Maybe someone has posted tis already...but when I get a text/call and I was in the shower, of course I could not here the phone ring. So when I come out of the bathroom, there is no indicator that I missed a call or a text. I have to check and see if some call/text me by hitting the "home" button. Most cell phone have a flashing light of some sort...but the iphone.

Correct

I've never had a flashing light on any of my phones. You bring it out of sleep and see that you have a missed call - same with iPhone.

I've seen this posted elsewhere...people wanting flashing lights and always-lit windows showing time & other info. Personally, I would not want anything flashing (or a window). I shudder to think of it - but that's just me. Guess I got lucky.

I think people are used to this from their blackberries. Personally, I would find it annoying, especially if you're trying to sleep. I put my phone on silent, so I won't get woken up. A bright flashing light saying I have a voicemail or text message or whatever, would definitely wake me up. Hell, even the damn sleep light on my iMac drives me crazy.

I remember every time i missed a call or a text my razr would beep periodically (something like every 10 minutes or so... can't really remember). I could turn this off for when i slept by putting the phone on silent, and the alarm still work. It would be great if apple could implement something like that on the iphone.

For those who have the phone, does a little symbol show up on the top of the phone when you have a text, mail, or call that hasn't been checked? On my blackjack it's either an envelope or phone symbol with an X, so if i'm browsing the internet or on an app I know I have something to check.

Does the iphone have this or do you need to return to the homescreen each and every time?

Because it is just so hard to push a button and see if you had a call.

It's not about that. With my Treo, I could look down and see if I missed somethign, or if it was lying on my desk, I could just glance over at it. It was reassuring that I didn't have outstanding alarms/messages/calls/voicemails.

With the iPhone, I have missed several alerts because the weak vibrate motor is basically useless to feel a small alert like a txt message.

NO it wouldn't...........what are you nuts?

For the first time ever I have a phone without ANY annoying lights, flashes, beeps, bleeps, or buzzes that I have no control over. FINALLY. If this changes because of whiny people who can't get over the "features" of their LG (vomit), I will be certainly pissed.

Yeah my mates Moto does that beeping thing and its so annoying! I think its good as it is, like my old Nokia, just unlock it and it says if I got a message or text. Also, the iPhone shows a message preview for texts before its even unlocked (thankfully this can be turned off).

Obviously some of you don't want reminders, but I agree that this is a feature on every cell phone I have ever seen - not just PDA"s like the Blackberry. I say put an option on the settings page that allows you to turn on/off reminder beeps.

For those of you who don't use it - leave it off. but for those of us who use our phones for anything more than casual calling, reminder beeps are a must. I must check my iPhone 100 times a day for missed messages.

The phone needs to have an option for audible notificaiton of missed calls, txt's and voice mails...

I agree-- I would like a blinking light indicating a missed call/text message/email. This could be disabled for those that don't want it. I do not want to have to wake up the phone several times a day to see if I missed anything while I was away from the phone. One of the few things that I liked better in my smartphone.

I've been able to turn off the reminder beeps on every Moto phone that I've owned, so I don't understand why you would be so pissed if they added it as an option. Just don't turn it on.

I have been annoyed several times so far because the iphone lacks this feature. I will have been out of the room, missed a call, and then not realize I have done so for a couple hours (until the next time I pick up my phone). I do not always think to pick up my phone and check for missed calls/messages EVERY TIME i leave it somewhere. Also, when you're walking down the streets of any given city, it's likely you'll miss a call because the vibration/ring are so weak. Give me a (optional) reminder beep/buzz, please.

While I don't care for a blinking light. To have an optional reminder beep should have been included from day 1. I'm not a fan of having to check my phone every 10 minutes to see if I missed an email/text/call. Feels like I'm gonna prematurely wear out the home button because I press it so much.

I too could find this very handy, and ive been kinda shocked with apples focus on user experience and the apparent push to conserve battery power, this feature wasn't implemented. I could save no telling how much battery power without having to turn on the screen and check my phone 100 times a day to see when I have or dont have a missed alert. It could even be turned off for those of you with super sensitive eyes or don't want external indicators.

it would be nice to see if there was a missed alert without having to pick it up, and yes I am lazy but I'm also always busy and constantly moving around. I feel obsessed now always picking up my phone every 20-30 mins to check it, where as before I could tell if there was something, day or night, near or far.

Maybe gen 2.

A flashing light would be great, but I am not going to buy another phone just to get that. My pocketpc 6700 had a power led that changed from green to yellow if it had a message / sms.

I would settle for a configurable nag chirp / vibrate that you can enable to remind you every 15 / 30 minutes. My pocketpc also had an addon app that would allow you to configure the sound and how often for how long. I set it to something like every 15 minutes for the next 45 minutes, then give up and stop nagging. I use my phone's SMS for work related on call notifications and alarms and I have slept through every one of then since I got the iphone.

At the least I would like to see us able to change the alert tone. I tried the one called 'Alert' once on the alarm clock and never did that again. It was early in the morning when it went off and scared the crap out of me. Sounded like a bomb warning.

ok, just check your phone. its not like you don't wanna look at the beautiful thing anyways.

Wow - You must have one serious life.

OK, so maybe I don't check it 100 times a day, but I think you get my drift...

I guess it comes down to how you use your phone. If your cell phone is a convenience, or just a secondary mode of communication for you, then the lack of a reminder is no big deal.

When it is your primary mode of communication, then it is important to get those missed messages.

I'd be happy with an email ringtone that was actually loud enough to hear.

Couldn't agree more with a ringtone I could actually hear and I don't see what would be so terrible having some sort of notification available that was also able to be turned off in settings to please those that did not want that feature.

i think if you complain enough to an apple store the will return it for you. but you probably will not get the stocking fee waived. good luck. hope you find a phone that lets you know when you were in the shower and someone called but you just didn't want to go take a look after your shower.

i think all sprint phones have the shower setting.

Yes, definitely a 1.0 -- many oversights... Most phones do not blank out the screen all the time, or instead have a small display for alerts, etc.

You should be able to user-set audible or visual alerts at definable intervals for new calls, vm, text, IM, etc...

Many oversights? How bout this being an improvement?
I agree with the previous posters....I love the fact that this phone keeps quiet instead of having all those ridiculous beeps and low rez soundbites.
