Call of Duty 1 and United Offensive Problem

Ok, for some reason, recently, I have been having two major problems with Call of Duty and UO.

Firstly, for some reason, it refuses to let me play either Call of Duty or CoD:UO Campaign. It keeps saying Please insert the Call of Duty disc..even though its in there.

Secondly, on all of the Punkbuster enabled online servers, I keep getting randomly kicked. It says theres a Punkbuster error, and I keep getting kicked for 0 minutes. This always happens in the exact moment I kill someone.

Please note that I have not had these problems form the beginning, it just started happening randomly, and at the same time, which means they're connected in some way, or so I assume.

If this helps, my computer is a 14 inch 1.33ghz iBook G4 late fall edition.

Does anyone know whats wrong?

Oh, and btw, I already tried installing the 1.5c patch-it didnt help.

I am having the same problems. I have tried running pbupdate to no avail. This started in July for me, too.

I have had a few spells where I could play, but more often than not I get kicked for the PB_INIT problem like you've seen.

If you open the console when you first start up COD:UO, there is a message related to PB logging into Even Balance's servers (the PunkBuster people.) I have noticed that it reports "Cannot resolve master3.evenbalance.com." The 3 could be another number, but if I see that, I get kicked. I'm not sure how to resolve this, but thought you'd like to know you're not the only one.

Also, PB was updated just before this problem began for me.

The problem with PB usually results from UO not getting the updates. I found that Running EvenBalance's pbsetup program will fix issues with most games, but not UO. The reason for that is UO has its own Application Support folder with its own pb files. Here is what I do to fix UO:

1. Download PBSetup from http://evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
2. Open the program and add Call of Duty to the list of installed games. (the path will automatically list the COD folder in your Application Support folder).
3. Run "check for updates" 2-3 times to make sure everything gets updated.
4. Open Call of Duty's support folder (~/Library/Application Support/Call of Duty)
5. Copy the folder named "pb"
6. Open UO's support folder (~/Library/Application Support/CoD United Offensive)
7. Paste the pb folder replacing the one there.

Well I usually reinstall my cod first, and with the disc not showing I would make sure other discs show up on your desktop and that cod is not scratched up. With the PB problem like others have said make sure you have the latest version.
