Just came across this:

You can get the digital download of CoD4 from Aspyr's GameAgent website
for currently $29.99 - if you add the promo code N287WE14 during checkout,
you will get $5.00 off. Downloading it right now with a good 2 MB/sec, just
wanted to let you know about this offer.

Especially when you live in the EU, where CoD4 Mac is only available as
a boxed set for €50 (about $72) this is actually a steal, because $25 are
like €17 :p

Another nice "feature" of the download version is that you don't have to
have the CoD4 disc inserted to start up the game... ;)

Edit1: You can checkout with either Credit Card or PayPal.
Edit2: Link to Aspyr's store: http://www.gameagent.com/store/aspyr/DisplayHomePage
Edit3: Apparently, the promo code doesn't work anymore :-(
Edit4: You can download the patch to version 1.71 for the digital download version directly at Aspyr. Do NOT use the patch for the boxed version, this will produce errors.
Edit5: Be advised that the download version is in English, both text and language - however it allows you to play on worldwide servers.

Apparently so, but it's all relative. And I'm not a big gamer - I've just been looking for something to play that makes it worth switching the 9600 of my MBP on...

Seems like its not possible to enter a europe billing adress, I'm trying with a fake American one..

Thats what I did. Worked fine, I checked out with PayPal.
Not sure if it would decline the transaction if you use a credit card
because of the billing address. However, if you have a credit card,
its just a matter of seconds to set up a PayPal account - so you can
get your game anyway.

Ewww, did you double check what you typed ? Its all in caps...
2 of my friends were able to buy it like 3 hours ago with the code :(
Maybe its limited use... sorry :(

($29 is still cheap, tho)

I am considering getting it (even though I owned COD4 on the PS3 for a week and MW2 is coming out soon), but have no idea how it will run for me. Apparently the Mac version runs at around 5 fps less than Windows? So I will try out the Windows demo.

Does that download get you the latest version though? The patch on Apple's site says it's only for the boxed version.

No, you get the 1.5x version.
The new patch for the digital download version can be downloaded
from Aspyrs website, its about 250 MB. Updating was quick'n'easy.

i unfortunately got the mac version.... the fps is extremely slow; ive hit as slow as 3 fps on a low ping, unlaggy server where i should be runnning 60-75 fps minimum...

You play on WHAT ?
Mac with integrated graphics ***** like the GMA950 and 1 GB of RAM ?
My friend even plays this on his Mac Mini from 2009 and it runs well.

Ok, I've got it to download via paypal (thx dragonforce)
I allready owned a copy on windows but got tired of booting, It runs great on my macbook pro and on my mac pro.

If anyone cares for a quick free-for-all match let me know ;)

Try again later. It worked for me and like 8 friends of mine + people from here... should be a temporary problem, don't worry.

Does anyone have any conclusive results for a brand new MBP with 2.2Ghz, 4 gigs ram, and an nvidia 9400m GT setup?

Well, what I experienced is:

- Download the game once, then burn it on a DL DVD or store it on your computer / external HDD. Its basically just a DMG file. No need to download it again.
There is no store frontend or download manager needed.

- The game seems to "digest" your hardware, and generates a fingerprint of it. The CSR told me that you can install the game unlimited times on the same computer (aka on the same "fingerprint") or up to 2 more times when the fingerprint changes (like 2 more different machines).

For this little money, this seems fair to me.
I bought it from Aspyr, and I love it. Not worrying about that DRM at all.
