I'd like to start off by saying that I am a new Mac user and am loving my new MacBook. Also, this is my first post on these forums. Now, onto the post. A few people have been having problems with getting a good frame-rate on a Macbook Aluminum 2.0GHz for Call of Duty 4 without having to suffer from turning down textures and graphics settings and I've been able to get around it.

What I have done (and I'm pointing out that this is the Mac version of Call of Duty 4 not the PC version in Boot Camp) is the following. Go into the multiplayer version of the game and enter the texture settings menu. Set the Normal Map Resolution to Extra as well as the Texture Resolution to Extra while leaving the Specular Map Resolution on Low. Then, go to the Graphics tab and leave specular map OFF. Make the Resolution 1024x768 and turn anti-aliasing off as well. On the lower portion of the graphics options turn everything OFF but keep ON the following: Depth of Field, Rag-doll, Bullet Impacts, and set Model Detail and Water Detail to Normal. That's all!

With the settings in this manner, you get the full graphical impact of Call of Duty 4 without sacrificing the polish because of the high texture outputs. The settings which are off are not noticeable in normal gameplay and, with them on, don't seem to make a visible difference when it comes to how the game looks (other than them slowing down the frame-rate)

With this set up, I get about 40-60 fps with it never dipping below 40 frames. I hoped I helped some people out! Thanks!

Turning spec. maps is a big visible difference in the game but it will give you around a 20 fps boost by turning it off.
