What kind of frame rates should I expect to get on COD4 with a 2.8 GHz iMac with 2 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA 8800GS? I plan to run the game on 1920x1200 resolution, but will settle for 1600x1200 if I can't get t least 30 FPS on the highest-res. Frame rate problems on COD2 have sparked my interest in COD4 (I only get around 12 FPS in COD2, due to an issue with my newer GPU, I suspect). I am only curious about frame rates for THE MAC PORT OF THE GAME, not the Windows version. Help will be greatly appreciated :D.

Is it true that the ATI 2600HD Pros get better FPS in COD4 than the 8800GS due to superior drivers? If this is true, I'm gonna be P'oD, because I spent extra for my 8800GS so that I could specifically play game at higher frame rates than the stock iMac card...

Cod 2 & Cod 4

COD 4 plays excellently on 3.06 GhZ imac w/8800GS card (but on Hardened or, especially, Veteran some Acts are frustratingly difficult to finish).

COD 2 had a glitch in it that could be got around by running it under Rosetta (Get Info: Open using Rosetta). Not quite so pretty, but adequately playable. Maybe one day it will be patched, but don't hold out too much hope. Every thing else I run doesn't have this glitch, so the fault must be in the game code :(.

So, go ahead and enjoy COD4 :). Turn up the res to 1920 x 1200, go easy on the Anti-aliasing and you should have fun (if you like that kind of fun - getting routinely blasted in online Multiplayer isn't much fun, but you gradually get better!)

Thank You Thank You Thank You!

Finally, a good, concise answer! Thanks! I was beginning to think that no one owned a system similar to mine, lol. I will buy COD4 for sure if the COD2 NVIDIA 8xxx patch doesn't come out soon. :D

What kind of frame rates did you get in COD4? COD2 crashes every time I try to open single-player now (I have not changed anything from the last time I opened it except download a Safari update, so I'm mystified), so I guess COD4 is imminent...
