Call of Duty 4 problem

Until recently, CoD4 had been running amazingly well (80-125 fps), but suddenly, for some reason, it started running terribly slowly (15-30 fps). I checked and double-checked, and none of the settings were changed, and even running on lower settings I encounter the same problem.

Retina MBP 2.3 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM.

Any help resolving this issue is much appreciated.

If I were you I'd reinstall. Make sure to save your multiplayer data first to save your progress.

Some people recommend restoring permissions.

As the person above me said, I'd backup game saves, completely uninstall the game, and then reinstall (placing your save files back once installation completes).

I'd go ahead and repair permissions after uninstalling the game (before reinstalling).
