how would this game run on lets say a mbp 15 inch with 8600m gt 256mb would fair with cod 4. any help would be much appreciated.

Seeing as the Mac version isnt out yet, and your system meets the specs (and are a little better) you should be able to run CoD4 Just fine

I have the same MPB as you and will get COD4 when it comes out. Based on the specs Aspyr requires/recommends I expect it to run well.

I run that game on my 24" Aluminum iMac at native resolution with full graphical settings enabled, runs fine.

I play COD4 on windows with bootcamp and it runs great at 1680x1050 with settings on medium.

I have the 2.5ghz macbookpro with 8600gt 512mb and 4gb ram.
