Has anyone heard anything about Call of Duty world at war coming out on the mac operating system?

first of all, its not Call of Duty 5, its still call of duty 4, just with world war added on. COD5 is coming out next year and is being made by Infinity ward, and world at war sucks anyways.

The trailers I saw looked l-a-m-e and rather disrespectful to be quite honest. I've played earlier versions of COD on Xbox and found them to be suspenseful and interesting from a historical point of view. The new version is just a bloodsport w/ splatters that look more like they belong in Quake. The soldiers look like they're human shaped love dolls filled w/ blood running around before they burst into a splatter.

I don't know whats wrong w/ the modern game developers...perhaps all the record label executives have transfered down the hall and are now getting set to destroy this market too. Seriously. the new Diablo looks like one of those games that you just keep whacking the button mindlessly to kill the neverending stream of 'monsters' = weak. I used to love Diablo but I'll pass on this one. I hope they get it right w/ Starcraft 2.

That's all Diablo ever was. It was hardly an intellectual game. Run around hit stuff till it dies, rinse and repeat. I never understood the love for Diablo to be honest, I got bored of it after 2 hours.

I really doubt COD World At War will be coming to the mac. However, since World At War is very similar to COD4, Aspyr might be able to port it over easily since they already have most of the libraries written. If they decide to they should be able to do it in under 6 months I would imagine, but who knows if they will. If COD World At War sells as wells as COD4 did, then you can probably count on them porting it. :apple:

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure World At War was badged as COD5.

I didn't get a chance to play it, I got it installed, but by the time I had a chance to try it out the beta had ended. My roommate played it though, and he seemed to like it, even though he has played through COD4. I also thought it looked pretty fun.

For those ripping on Diablo 1+2+3, I will agree that games that have the same content over and over again through the gameplay gets boring. But what makes a game like that is the story. I myself never have been able to get into the story, and so have never played through games like that. Everyone I have talked to that has beaten the game says the story is really good. World Of Warcraft, in my opinion is very repetitive gameplay, but many people have been able to latch onto the story and now it is one of if not the best selling game ever.

On teh website and all the reviews i have read its, COD World at War. its not COD5, that one comes out next year.

I see what you're saying, and moreso for the 2nd one sure...but the first one was dark and suspenseful....had GREAT music, creepy mood graphics/lighting/settings and eerie sounds. Not as freaky as Myth mind you but still unique. Like all sequels in movies it seems nothing will best the original and the first Diablo was a very good game. It was much more than how you describe but I guess you have to be able to get into it. D3 looks like a major disappointment disguised by good graphics.

Call of Duty likes to take its time to come out for Mac, but I am sure it will eventually. I tried finding any info on it, but couldn't a thing.

The Sims 3 will be out in February for both PC and Mac.

You knot what I am surprised about, is how WoW Wrath of the Lich King isn't for sale at Apple's store.

I'm hesitant to suggest going to the dark side, but CoD WaW runs just fine using Bootcamp. I felt bad when I broke down last year and "acquired" a copy of XP to run game as I've been a Mac guys since the old days, but I got tired of waiting to play games. I support Mac Gaming when I can, but for now...

Yeah, make sure you get the name absolutely correct or else someone will pick you up on your massive error ;)

FWIW, I can't see either of them appearing on the Apple Macintosh range of computators prior to Christmastide AD2009.

Yours sincerely,
DD

I'm just planning on running the PC version in Boot Camp. But I played it and it's the same thing basically as COD 4 except for the Nazi Zombie mode which is the most fun ever. =D

I have just seen this:
IGN » Games » Xbox 360 » Game Profiles
Call of Duty: World at War
Also known as: CoD: World at War, Call of Duty 5

from IGN COD:WAW
You could very well be right though.

What? Sims 3 is coming out on Mac? I haven't heard anything about it, where did you find this out? Also, is it worth buying COD 4 now? I am thinking about getting it as a christmas present, but are there actually many people still playing online?

I see hundreds of servers online, there's always a game of Call of Duty 4 around. :)

i'd love it if it did come out on mac. i thought it'd be crap compared to cod4, but i played nazi zombie mode with a few friends and i really want the game now. I mean, it can't be to hard seeing as it's on the same engine as cod4, can't they build off that?

The Call of Duty series is dropping the numbering from their products, hence Call of Duty: World at War. Technically, Call of Duty: World at War is Call of Duty 5 as it's the 5th major installation of the CoD series. I read somewhere that Activision confirmed the next version of CoD (CoD 6), also known as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Anyway, Aspyr took at least 10 months to port over the game. Don't expect it to be released for Mac until this time in 2009; however it may also be released sooner than expected.

Aspyr port CoD:WaW over? I'll be surprised if/when the next patch comes out for CoD4 that they will even keep up with the Wintel version. At least the track record they have proven to me with their NWN2 version demonstrated to me that they won't/don't maintain patch versions that original devs produce.

I had less problems gaming on a LINUX PC using wine then on my MAC. End result... bootcamp... the game console for my mac called windows. Which means both :apple: and MS benefit from MAC sells, because lot of people purchase windows to game or run that program they must have.

One company I will support 100% is/will be Blizzard. Though I don't do monthly pay MMRPGs. Look at the support they give for their titles and the fact that they release both Mac & Win. The only thing they could do better is include Linux.

Three words: evil zombie nazis.

Go. Now. Get CoD:World at War for Xbox360 or PS3. I'll wait here, killing wave after wave of evil zombie nazis.
