Since the 17.5.1 update, my phone often doesn’t give any notification when I get a call or message. This happens on WhatsApp too. Sometimes the messages are also arriving late ie; at 11pm a message will be there saying it was sent at 8.30pm (but it was not there when I checked at 9pm). Calls often don’t ring and I’ll just see a missed call notification, again sometimes only much later saying the call was hours ago.

I’m losing my mind going round in circles with Apple and EE both blaming each other. Since the problem only started with this software update, I suspect that’s the problem. I’m now fed up with being told to ‘turn it off and on again’. I’ve tried a hard reset and toggling various settings advised by others having this problem but nothing has worked. I’m at the point where I’d consider buying a new phone if that would solve it. Can anyone help?

Ahhhh. The Apple and EE game. It seems to come up a lot with EE, which does suggest there's something about EE to do with it ( but can crop up on other networks).
This normally seems to be down to an either poor cellular connection and EE isn't pushing the 'you missed a call' till later or devices sending the notifications elsewhere.
We spent a long time trying to get to the bottom of this with my mother and found the issue was actually she had an iPad she tended to leave unlocked on the chair so notifications would route to that as it was active and not appear on her phone as it looked like it had been read on the iPad.
