My boss has an iPhone and the last few days he has had massive issues with people hearing him. He put on a clear case a few days ago and the issue started then. Thinking that was the cause, he removed it but still has the issue. Any ideas what the cause could be and what a quick fix would be? Thanks.

Don't know why a case would cause any issues.

Maybe he accidentally hit the "mute" button and it got stuck on it internally. Have him plug the iPhone into iTunes, and hit the restore button. This should fix it. If it doesn't contact Apple.

He restored it yesterday and nothing. Going to try a factory reset and then send it back to O2 if it doesn't help.

headphone socket

Hiya

Try blowing into the headphone socket and inserting the headphone jack into it several times. I had an issue where some debris/fluff from my pocket must have jammed in and the iphone thinks the headphone is connected, hence no volume!

Good luck

I just got the same symptom on my iphone today. Weird thing is the phone works if you use the speaker phone option, but my voice is not heard when I use it like a normal phone?? tried the headphone jack, tried resetting it, nothing helps. Seems like a software issue since if it works on speaker phone the microphone must be OK

It was the microphone on his phone, just got a replacement pretty quickly today. Must be a pretty normal problem.
