Caller id on ios 11

i received a call tonight from my mom and when it appeared on the caller id, the phone showed “mom or iphone”. Does anyone know why? Is this new in ios 11 and how can you change it?

I also just received a call and it said Dan or Dan. Not sure why

did you do a search in your Contacts app, searching for that phone number, and see if it is listed twice for 2 separate contacts?

Yep nothing there except she is a regular contact and in my favorites list.
