Not sure if this has been discussed, but when I plug in my earpiece, ie. Apple provided earbuds, to make a call, the person on the other end sounds hollow/echoed/like they are on a speakerphone or something, whereas with any other phone I've had, the corded headsets always sound crystal clear.

Is this a general issue or specific to me and maybe a few others.
FYI, playing music and movies through them sounds just fine.

Well you are basically listening to a low quality audio transmission through quality stereo headphones. My Treo used to have the same sound when using stereo headsets to make the call. Sometimes if it is too hollow or weird sounding I will just use one ear bud. That makes it sound more like what you are used to hearing.

Thank you, that did the trick. Amazing, it's still not quite as clear as a traditional Nokia/Moto type mono earpiece and mic, but using only the right ear makes a HUGE difference. No more echo. Just a faint reverb.
