.cam-pot?

Hello,

I am currently downloading a video file that ends with the extension .cam-pot

it has not finished downloading, but mac os x is treating it like a folder, when i open it up there are some files and two folders called cd1 and cd2

i am downloading this file (a new, popular documentary currently in theatres) from a bit torrent client....this is my first forray into the illegal world of file sharing, and it was quite difficult for me just to figure out the bit torrent part,

i would not be doing this except limitations prevent me from sitting through a movie in a movie theatre and i really want to see this film, once this download finishes, (seems like it will take a while),
does anyone have any idea about how to watch the file?

In the folder with the .cam-pot at the end should be 3 more folders. CD1, CD2, and Sample. In the CD1 and CD@ folders are files ending in .rar and then .r01 .r02 and so on. What you need to do is use a rar program to unpack those. I'm assuming you use a Mac, and the only program I know of is http://www.rarsoft.com/download.htm. I use winrar from that site since i can't afford a mac . The version for Mac is command line only so I don't know how to use it but i'm sure there's a better program somewhere, Mac may even have support in their OS, i don't know. Anyway, you just need to unrar the .rar file. All the numbered ones are parts of the same file and will be automatically unrared. The video should then be in a normal format.

Don't worry, Michael Moore says he approves of it. Of course the MPAA probably doesn't...and they're the ones who take you to court.

OafyC is on the right track. Inside the folder you're downloading there will be more folders and more files. If you don't understand the extension, do a Google or versiontracker search for it to find the right app to use it.

I think you're going to have all the fun of sitting through the movie. cam-pot means somebody took a video camera into the theater. I hope they had a steady hand.

I have found that the version included with OS X doesn't open all .rar files, but I haven't had a problem since upgrading to the latest version (8).
