iPhone 8/Plus Camera agravation

The issue is when i zoom in it switches over to the secondary camera. How do I stop this?

I have an iphone 8s 32 gb phone on the latest firmware

Not positive but there are apps to have more control over your camera. I believe it will do what you want.
