When I upgraded to iPhone 6S, I set it up by restoring from an iCloud backup. I upgraded to 9.0.2 right away so I don't know at what point the problem started occurring. Whenever I use the default Camera app and try to switch from rear to front camera, the app freezes and has to be killed. The other apps like Instagram or Camera+ do not seem to have this problem. Based on advice from phone support, I tried resetting all settings and restarting the phone but it didn't help. At the genius bar they asked me to set it as a new iPhone and then the problem went away. They speculated that it was probably due to a corrupt file in the iCloud backup. Much to my annoyance, they recommended setting it up as a new phone, which would result in losing a lot of app data and settings, which I was not willing to accept. I feel that this is something that can be fixed as a software patch if the iOS engineers could debug this problem. Anyone else faced this problem?
Any help/workaround would be much appreciated.

Your camera need to be replaced. Take it to apple or repair shop shouldn't charge no more than $65

Very poor advice given that I've already mentioned that Instagram and Camera+ work fine.

Then figure it out your damn self just trying to jelp. Use instagram to fix you issue than genius

I know that you're trying to help. I don't know why. You're clearly not an expert otherwise you'd have figured that it's a software problem not a hardware one. Do you start treating a sick person if you're not a doctor just because they need help? Instagram or Camera+ don't support features like Live Photos yet. When they do, I won't need the default Camera app anymore.

Yeah sorry, you'll have to set up as a new phone. The backup corrupted. You could always try using a friends phone and restoring your backup to that just to verify it is a backup problem.
