Camera Connector Kit-Just Got It

It just arrived and I put in an SD card and it went right to the proper screen to import the pics and videos to the Ipad. Puts them in "Photos" and then under "Events". I then connected it to my Imac and synched to Itunes and nothing different happended. I then went to Iphoto and there the Ipad was listed. I did "select All" and dragged them to Events. It wanted to know if I wanted to delete the pictures and videos from the Ipad. I was reading a post here yesterday that had a review and the reviewer said the pics would not transfer from the Ipad tp the computer. Well it does on Apples. Not sure what it does on a Windows computer or how it does it.

SORRY, I JUST NOTICED THE THREAD I REFERRED TO AND PEOPLE ARE SAYING JUST WHAT I SAID AND MORE. I SHOULD HAVE ADDED MY INFO TO IT.
 
I'm sure they will transfer to the PC just like they do on the iPhone, you just have to open the mass storage device drive and copy them over, or use a photo importer like the one built into windows.

Yea I know about the cable working. I just hate carrying more cables. Would be easier for just the card reader. You would think that Apple would make adapters for CF.

Then you can use the connector that connects to the camera. One of mine uses CF and it worked great. Yea, one more cable is a pain but considering what I carry when I travel, it doesn't amount to much more.
 
Dumb question...I don't have the kit though..

Could you use a USB card adapter with the USB dongle? (extra bit to carry but since you carrying the camera kit anyway).:confused:

What would make more sense would be for all the DSLR camera manufacturers to move to the SDHC format and be done with it.

As SD cards become better in quality. i agree.
i believe there is/was a reason why SLR uses compact flash.

I just connected a USB card reader to the connector with a CF card and it worked perfectly.
 
What is the picture size on iPad? I know that if you sync your iPhoto pic to iPad, pictures will be resized to smaller one
 
Having trouble with USB camera kit download??

I have a Canon EOS 30D. All I get is a black screen on my iPad when I try to download from camera to iPad. Anyone else having a problem with the connector?? Tried different cables - same result - black screen. Help??!

I have the nikon D300 and all I do is connect it and turn it on. Black screen and then the pictures pop up.
 
As does my Nikon D300 DSLR. Very simple solution. Just copy your photos to an SD card.

Actually it is a very bad idea to import full size say 12.2 MP images to your iPad due to limited storage space. I shoot in RAW and always downsize and covert to JPG before downloading to my iPhone. I am sure it is the same for the iPad.

My 2 iPad WiFi + 3G's will be here next Friday! Wooohoooo!

Can you see a large preview of the pic before you import it? Another thread mentioned the photo app doesn't let you delete pics. I was planning on using it on vacations and assumed I could delete pics I didn't like (some look worse when you see them on a big screen) so I didn't waste space.

Indeed. I was pretty disappointed when 7D was released with only a Compact Flash slot. It should have at least had another SD slot.

I have a Lexar that has 2 slots, CF and SD. I got it from B&H Photo. But I would think any would work but don't know.

While SDHC cards can have a bit of an edge in write speeds in some DLSRs that have both slots, UDMA CF cards are much faster with writes in the DSLRs that support UDMA. And even the fastest SDHC cards are too slow compared to the fastest Compact Flash cards when it comes to read speeds. SDHC maxes out around 20-22MB/s read speed. Compact Flash cards are achieving 40-45MB/s read speed. This is a very important distinction for those that shoot a lot of RAW photos. Using a good Firewire 800 card reader attached to a computer, a fast UDMA CF card can transfer a full card in about half the time as the fastest SDHC card.

So, I'm in no hurry to move exclusively to SDHC in my digital SLR and I'm glad Canon and Nikon don't appear to be either. SDHC is too slow for me.

gramma needs help

my dear son gave his sweet old mom an ipad for her birthday. i do love it!
i just got the camera connector kit. when i attach the sd card reader to the ipad, then insert sd card the dialog box says the usb device is not supported...i don't understand why it thinks i attached the usb dongle...any help would be appreciated. thanks
 
Apple.com states a 3-4 week order time. Is this really the case? Is there a better way to get this sooner?

Try MacConnection. I got my connector from them already (wish I could say the same for my iPad 64GB 3G/WiFi.) However, you need to order it over the phone via their 1-888 iPad order number, as it is not listed on their web site.
