hey.

just a quick question if anyone has ever used this app called camera flash? i was just browsing the top 25 apps. wondering if it actually works to improve the picture quality at all? are there any other apps you would recommend?

Don't bother with a Camera Flash. Just OK. Nothing super special.

I second that on Photoforge. GREAT program. Has an option to adjust the Exposure, which can bring out the detail in the darkest of pics.

Photoforge is pound for pound the best photo app on the iPhone... in my opinion so far. Does a lot of different things. Currently I use Photoforge, Photogene, Photofx, Colorfx, Colorsplash, Camerbag, and messing around with Photoeffects. Since they improved the Camera on the 3GS... I have been really into using my iPhone for amateur photography. Some have turned out really nice too.

Besides Photoforge

Camera Bag is a nice set of filters to make your pics look like they were taken with classic cameras.

Color Splash is nice for removing and adding in color to different areas of pictures.

Postage is nice for adding effects, Captions, and templates to for digital postcards to email to your friends/family.

I posted a couple of examples on the what is your favorite app page with pics that I used these apps on...

What about photogene? It's a good app :)

Good point. Actually I think if you only have room for one app Photogen is the one you want, even though Photoforge is on sale... Photoforge does more but honestly if you need to do advanced editing then the iphone probably isn't the place to do it.

Another fun one is Juxtaposer... It has the same interface as Colorsplash but it allows you to cut and paste areas of 2 pics together.... ie put yourself in a beach scene... Put your dog's head on a human body etc...

thanks for all the replies!! they sound great.

i guess im going to mess around with photoforge first. seems highly recommended from you guys and that pic looks great moviecouple!

thanks again.

Thanks for the compliment. I'll have to check out some of the apps that are on Pika's home screen.

photogene for zooming

I would like a zoom for the 3GS camera. I understand that it will only be digital and not optic zoom. I'm going on holidays next week.

I have Photogene but haven't had time to play around with it yet.

Is cropping and 'zooming' or enlarging after the photo is taken the same as using a zoom while taking the picture...like with Camera Genius?

I think it would be nice to have an app that allows me to zoom before taking the picture, but I saw a video for Camera Genius and there is no control over the autofocus when it is being used.
On the other hand, it could be a pain to go into Photogene and crop each individual photo.
