Camera freezes

Please help!
I am travelling with my family right now and I use my iphone a lot to take pictures and share them with family & friends back home. I had no problems but 2 days ago the image started freezing when I use the camera. Really frustrating!
I first thought my phone was too full and I deleted most of my pictures and videos after doing a back up. It didn't help. Turning the phone off and on again and reseting it did not solve the problem either.
It is an iphone 6 up to date with ios 10.2.1.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!

I even rebooted the iphone completely and the problem is still there...

After you deleted some photos and videos did you also empty the deleted photos and videos folder to actually free up the space? How much free space do you have?

Yes I did! Now I rebooted my phone completly and the problem is still there!

At what point does the camera freeze - are you ever able to take pictures with it? You've freed up memory and restored it, sounds like the camera might need replacing to me.

Yeah I can take pictures. The front camera (the one used to take selfies) seems to be working fine. It's the back camera that freezes a couple seconds after opening it. I may have the time to take a picture but it always freezes after a couple seconds so it doesn't give me enough time to take a decent picture. It is really frustrating. I'm searching for help here because I'm in El Salvador right now so it won't be possible to go to an Apple store...
