Camera light flashing with black image in video apps

Hi,

A day after upgrading to the new Serrria OS, my MacBook airs camera stopped working. It was working for the first day. I have a hard time believing this is a hardware problem as the way i use my mac has not changed. So that leads me to believe it is a software issue.

The first thing I did was post on the Apple committee but the only suggestion was to reset the SMC. Having tried that there where no other suggestions.

What model/year MBA? We have a 2013 13-in, and the camera and the sound were flakey for a year. A couple of independent repair jobs did not help the situation. Finally, took it to Apple, and they diagnosed I/O assembly and cable -- about $100 altogether to fix. Works great now. Note that each year is different - they said sometimes the I/O assembly is part of the logic board.
