Camera M 4 Update
We took this opportunity to design beautiful yet useful widgets for photography that enhance the experience of Camera M.

Camera M iOS 14 Widgets for Photography

Golden Hour
We redesigned our popular Golden Hour Today Widget to be even more beautiful and useful as a widget for your Home Screen. The new nighttime view displays the sun's position leading up to the sunrise. This widget displays precise times for sunrise, sunset, and Golden Hour, along with the estimated sun position to assist natural light photography. We hope this inspires you to capture more beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

EXIF
View basic EXIF metadata for the last item in Camera Roll - The date with time, location, basic shot information, and file type. This widget refreshes when entering Home Screen from Camera M. Tapping on the widget opens the item with Camera M.

Cameras
View basic hardware specifications for available rear cameras - The focal length in 35mm equivalent, aperture, and sensor resolution for each camera. This widget displays information for both rear and front cameras on devices with a single rear camera. Tapping on a specific camera opens Camera M with the particular camera selected.

Been using this as my main camera app since early V1. Developer updates the app regularly to take advantage of iOS updates. Looking forward to seeing how ProRaw works. Found it during one of Apple Featured app specials

Camera M 4.1 ProRAW Update

Camera M ProRAW Update

The next level of pro photography is here! We want to welcome you to Apple ProRAW format!

With iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, now capture full 12-bit Linear DNG format images with additional dynamic range.

What is Apple ProRAW?

Apple ProRAW brings the power of iOS computational photography to RAW. It provides benefits of multi-frame image processing and computational photography, like Deep Fusion and Smart HDR, and combines them with the depth and flexibility of a RAW format. Files are approximately 25MB in file size.

Read about the importance of Apple ProRAW

Camera M and ProRAW

Shoot with fluid gesture-based full manual controls, including focus, exposure, and white balance. Shoot up to 1 second long exposures or manually set ISO to the lowest setting. Have access to the full arsenal of professional tools: movable magnifier loupe, focus peaking, live RGB histograms, highlight and shadow alerts, grey card white balance, and much more.

ProRAW uses Max Image Processing to apply Deep Fusion and Smart HDR, and other computational photography features, ensuring you are getting the absolute best image quality.

We made sure that Sensor-shift stabilization for Wide Camera on iPhone 12 Pro Max and lens stabilization in all other instances are fully utilized to give you the sharpest image possible. Hand-held one-second long exposures are now within reach.

ProRAW is available with the ultra-wide camera! Yes, you read it right.

Bracket with ProRAW

Camera M ProRAW Bracket Mode

Dynamic-range-warriors can now capture 3-shot brackets in Apple ProRAW format. Use the default -2EV, 0EV, +2EV bracket, or manually configure with three movable exposure points, as shown above.

ProRAW + HEIF

Capture ProRAW with a processed HEIF file alongside or capture ProRAW by itself. When ProRAW + HEIF combination is shared within Camera Roll, you will see the choice to share each format separately.

Standard RAW

You still have the option to capture standard RAW (Bayer RAW) without any additional processing.

(iPhone 12 Pro or iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 14.3 is required for Apple ProRAW capture.)

Camera M 4.2 EXIF Viewer 2 Update

EXIF Viewer for iOS

With just a swipe up from the Camera Roll, you can view all available EXIF metadata associated with the image or video. Swipe between images to compare metadata in landscape orientation.

Depth Maps

With a Depth image, tap on the Depth Map button to toggle through all available depth maps and segmentation masks: depth, portrait, skin, hair, teeth, glasses, and sky. Any of these depth maps or segmentation masks can be exported as a transparent PNG used with photo editing software as masks. Make sure the desired choice is visible, and tap the Share button.

For those who are capturing Apple ProRAW with iPhone 12 Pro of iPhone 12 Pro Max, a portrait segmented mask is generated if a human subject is visible in the image. Camera M's new EXIF Viewer has the capability to display this simply with a tap of the Depth Map button. As usual, export as a transparent PNG via the Share button while it is visible.

EXIF Summary

Take a glance at a summary of important metadata that is important to you.

Histogram

View a beautifully-designed RGB histogram or tap to animate to an RGB luminance version.

Location

View the geolocation on the map with compass direction, if available. Reverse geolocation is shown underneath the map with the associated address, if available and a network connection is active. Elevation in feet and meters is also displayed if available.

Full EXIF Table

Tap the Full EXIF button to bring up the full EXIF table in its original form. Swipe down to dismiss.

What about video metadata?

iOS Video Metadata Reader

Even though Camera M is solely focused on photography, we spent extra time making sure available metadata for video is presented. It even indicates whether you are looking at an HDR video.

What about on iPad?

iPad EXIF Metadata Viewer

We believe the new Exif Viewer feels right at home on iPad. Same as on iPhone, swipe up to fully view all the available metadata or swipe between images to compare metadata.

Camera M 4.3 Update
Camera M Manual Camera Controls with iOS 14 Context Menus
Quick Change Menus

By design, Camera M gives the user a fully dedicated interface for each aspect of iOS manual camera controls: focus, exposure, and white balance. However, there are instances where you want to just have quick access to controls without opening a whole new interface. In these moments, Camera M's Quick Change Menus give you the option to use Haptic Touch to instantly change basic aspects of focus, exposure, or white balance.

Let us look at an example:

Imagine you are at a beautiful landscape setting trying to capture a beautiful sunset. Your main concentration here is to get the exposure just right, using Camera M's custom exposure controls. However, you notice the focus mode is in autofocus, but the focus needs to be locked at the furthest distance. At this moment, you do not want to leave the current presentation of controls. Now you can tap and hold on Focus button to invoke Haptic Touch to bring up Quick Change Menu for focus and quickly set the focus preset to Scene and keep concentrating on the exposure.

These menus are also presented intelligently. For example, if the exposure mode is currently in auto, the menu only gives the option to lock it, or the option to resetting exposure bias is only shown if exposure bias has been altered at all.

Quick Change Menus are available for focus, exposure, and white balance when the corresponding screen is not active. These menus are available for all iPhones and iPad running Camera M.
