Is this the first time RAW support was added for new cameras as a stand alone software update? In the past it was part of a Mac OS X point update. I notice this only requires you have "10.5.3 or later".

I was surprised to see the Canon XS (1000D) on this list, since the XSi has been supported for a long while now. I didn't think they were all that different.

It's not the first time. Usually it's wrapped up into a system update but when the stars don't align, it's a separate release. The first (I think) was the update to fix the Canon RAW engine issues and add Nikon D80 support way back and this is the third standalone RAW update this year.
