Camera unusable when zoomed in 3x

When I tried to use the 3x zoom on the iPhone 13 Pro Max (iOS 16.0.3), this keeps happening. I've restarted my phone, yet to no avail.

Has this been happening to anyone else? Does anyone know if it's a software or hardware issue?

Edit: I went to the Apple Store, and it turns out it was a hardware issue with the telephoto camera. Fortunately, the phone was still under warranty and they fixed it no charge.

That's not good if that persists after restarting your phone. Maybe try a hard reset as well:

Force restart iPhone

If iPhone isn’t responding, try forcing it to restart.

support.apple.com

I just updated to 16.0.3, but I'm not having this issue on my 13PM.
