We are going on a long, long flight and so I rented and downloaded a few movies to watch. My wife & I have our own sets of blue tooth headphones but only one pair can be connected to my IPad at a time. Is there a way for us to both watch the same movie ?

I've often wondered if Apple could figure out a way to airplay/screen share from one iPad to another in situations like this. Let me play a movie on one iPad and have it displayed/synced on the screens of a few others. That way you could each have your own screen, but watch the same movie at the same time together.

That said, I think right now your only option is a bluetooth device like posted above, or the analog equivalent 3.5mm headphone jack splitter to pairs of wired headphones.

Do you have another device? You can download the movie to multiple devices and both watch at the same time on separate devices. I have iCloud Family sharing set up so that my wife can download any movies purchased or rented from my iCloud account to her iPhone.

Thanks. Ill try that since we both have our own IPads.
