I have a 2007 iMac 24 running 10.8.5 and am wondering if I can upgrade to 10.9 and what issues I might encounter. Feedback please?

Yes... I maintain one that runs perfect with Yosemite on it (although I did install a SSD in it to make it snappy). It has updated fine to each OS version. Mavericks also ran fine on it. (I always wait at least one year before updating to latest OS version)

Yes. Mavericks will work with your iMac, but keep in mind that Mavericks and Yosemite are no longer available for download from the Apple App Store. :(

Hopefully you "Purchased" (downloaded) Mavericks previously or have a Mac friend that can help. I have also heard that they can help you at the Apple Store, but I have no personal experience.

Same here. I have an '07 with an older Samsung 830 Pro, 6GB RAM installed and running El Capitan just fine.
