Well unfortunately my “17 MacBook has the issue where it only opens about 60 degrees and goes black. Apple won’t replace it under the recall because it’s not a “16 model 🤬. After searching I can find the answer to my question.

Will a a1989 screen fit my a1706 body? It don’t care if True Tone doesn’t work. I have 2 brand new screens here but don’t want to start the replacement if it’s not technically possible.

I'm going to say no - I have no idea to be honest, but if I was a betting man I'd say no.

After thinking that you are talking about 17-inch screens (“17 MacBook), turns out that two devices in question are 13" MBPs, one 2016-17 model, other 2018-19 model.

I'd say not, because even if you don't care about True Tone, that would require different connection with the logic board to provide it?

iFixit has them as two distinctive part numbers, I'd guess Apple does too.
