Hey Kinkdly folks, first post. Thanks for letting me post!

First I sincerely hope everyone is health and safe.

I‘m working from home and HATE my Win10 all in one PC. It’s almost impossible to do simple installs and updates. I also just bought an Alienware AW3420DW monitor for gaming. I’m going to be working from home for about the next 5 weeks and was thinking of getting a Mini Mac to replace the PC. Can a Mini Mac drive my ultra wide monitor enough to do office productivey tasks? I won’t be doing anything fancy or gaming, just internet and office stuff, at most some VISIO.

Tech wise I believe the MAc MI I has a 2.0 HDMI but the monitor has a 1.4 HDMI input?

I was thinking of returning the monitor and getting something cheaper and with more input options too.

Help and thanks in advance for any support!

Go to the Online Apple store. Click through till you get to the Mac Mini (not Mini Mac) page: Shop-> Mac-> Mini. Select the model you’re interested in. Look around for the Tech Spec button and click. Look at the Video Support specs. Does that match up with your monitor?

The display should work fine with the Mac Mini.

The max resolution of the AW3420DW is 3440 x 1440 at 120Hz.

The max width of 3440 does not exceed the max width of 4096 that is allowed by a single connection display connected to the Mac Mini (5K width requires dual cable display or Windows or AMD graphics or Gen11 Intel graphics).

The max pixel clock of 659 MHz (assuming CVT-RB timing - actual timing from the display's EDID may differ) is well under the 720 MHz allowed by DisplayPort 1.2 using 10 bpc color that is supported by the Mac Mini.
