As far as I am aware there is an international warranty on mac laptops, but not the desktops.
Also check if Australia supports AppleCare.

well australia sells apple care....so that would mean they support applecare right? well i sure hope they do.....so if they do then i shouldn't have a problem right?

It worked with me!

Hey there!

I bought a G3 iBook when they were first released on eBay, for £480, which was way cheaper than the £749 Apple price tag.

It didn't come with any receipts, proof of purchases, nothing.

I got the machine, from the USA, registered it in my name, in the (UK) and I got the 90 days telephone support, and the standard 12 months warranty, in a country different than its origin (I was in the UK, the product was shipped from the US)

It was even eligible for UK-AppleCare, so you could buy your Oz AppleCare back home and be fully covered for 3 years :D

..By Serial No., Apple could even tell me when it was made, where it was made, and to what company it was sent to for reselling, all from their UK based computers - so I think its true that Apples warranty does indeed extend internationally.

Good luck with your new purchase, and if you get the new MacBook before me, I hate you :)

You should be fine. I had problems with the slot drive on my iBook (which I bought in the UK) and took it to an Apple store while on holiday in Florida. The problem was taken care of in 5 days and cost me nothing. ;)

See, me and Lunja seem to have slightly reversed situations, but Apple swooped in and helped both times :D

You'll be fine. I'm just going to check the Oz site for AppleCare now for you.. back in a tick!

thank u

Thank you josh.thomas and lunja
Really appreciate the help...I guess now all I have to do is wait for the macbook to be out and not give in to a powerbook.....so josh.thomas wanna race....:D

Warranty is international, but I doubt they will do 1-1 replacement for you.

Just buy it locally, I did the calculations, the only savings you get are from GST.. and that's assuming the shipping from USA back to Oz is free...

The Race!

Well, being only 17 its a little hard to pay for my Computers straight up - either you older Adults are fortunate enough to have a few £K in your Bank Accounts, or you use credit cards... ahhh the bliss!

Once the MacBook is released I should have it within about a fortnight, sell my iMac then add some cash and order.

Keep that for around 9 months, the order my MacBook Pro for Uni of September next year.

The race is on!
