I'm wondering whether or not a MacBook Pro can handle a 30" Apple monitor? I would be using Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium along with browsers and etc. open at the same time. I was thinking about getting the Dell 30", but the Apple 30" seems to produce a much higher quality image.

Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display, both at millions of colors

Would it run well with the programs I listed, would it be choppy, or does the graphics card not even matter when running the programs listed above on a screen like that?

I run the software you mention on an MBP17 connected to an Apple 30" without any problems. I love it.

I'm a webdesigner and use my 30" ACD with my 2.33 C2D in closed lid mode for all of my design development. CS3, Coda, and CSSEdit work flawlessly. It just feels like there is a Mac Pro hidden somewhere.
