iPhone Can a new iPhone 6 be jailbreaked still ?

I might be interested in getting an iPhone 6 Plus possibly, would get it through ATT in the U.S.

My question, can a brand new iPhone 6 bought Dec. 31st still be jailbreaked, or did I miss the boat ?
 
I'm a big Android / Nexus nerd, but to be honest burned out and bored with Android lately. Lollipop is good, but not exciting me like I thought, plus little things with Android annoy me lately.

My last iPhone was the 3G, and looking for something different than my OnePlus One and HTC One M8. Always thought a Jailbreaked iPhone 6 Plus would be fun and a change of pace.

A client of mine has a white iPhone 6 Plus, and I was blown away with it, and it was stock. But was such a nice looking device, the camera was warp speed fast, and touch response felt super fast. The phone was very lightweight, and felt good in the hand, I like the size of the Plus.

Opinions ?

if you have the cash, go for it. I'd go with a 64gb model at least though since storage isn't upgradeable. Get one now while the IOS version is still jailbreakable.

I was in the same boat as you. I'm still a huge android fan, and just wanted a change of pace. In the beginning when I first got my iPhone i considered going back to android because of how limited iOS felt. Jailbreaking my i6 has really made a difference and I enjoy my phone tons more. I'd say try it out.

Edit: oh and yes, there is a jailbreak out for the current 8.1.2, so there shouldn't be a problem if you do decide to get an iPhone!
 
currently the jailbreak for 8.1.2 is available only on the Windows platform, you can however, use parallels to jailbreak your 8.1.2 device if you only have a mac.
 
I did get the 6 + two days ago. Jailbreak was the easiest thing ever took all of a few minutes.

Unlike rooting and ROM'ing which can take a good 30 minutes and can be rather complicated and technical.

I have like a dozen or so Cydia apps and tweaks installed that have helped a lot to make this a better smartphone for me.

But there are still specific Android settings that I dearly miss. Like a true software "back" button like on Nexus phones. And a few other things.
 
That's one thing I don't get about android users that they keep bringing up the back button.
I guess since I never used it I don't know but it sounds completely pointless to have a hardware back button there.
 
The back button is nice for times like when you are browsing in an app, click a link that takes you to the browser, the back button would take you back into the app. Less steps than involving iOS switcher.

Inter app linking and stuff is more prevelant in android too, so you get more back button use there too, where just an in app back gesture like on iOS wouldnt work

Wow, Callbar is an amazing app. And the tutorial was so professional. Super impressed with this one.

Is there a toggle for it besides just tappin the tiny status bar ?

I have had iPhones for an age and am so used to double tapping the home button to go back that when I switched (briefly) to android I hated the back button and missed double tapping the home button to go back to the previous app/task.

So obviously the same will be true of someone having had android phones for a while and being used to the back button having to double tap the home button to go back to a previous app will be annoying.

All depends on what you're used to.

Thing I most missed when using android was tap to the top. Honestly couldn't believe it wasn't standard and there was no tweak for it. Had to scroll to the top every single time. Really annoying if you're reading a long article etc.

Activator is sometimes downloaded automatically with some tweak/app packages. Activator lets you assign gestures, long/short/double presses on buttons to various apps and tweaks.

You're right, CallBar is amazing. I used Activator to add it to a press of the volume up button, then tapping the bezel in the center that appears. Sounds complicated, but it's really fluid. But you can assign CB and any app to an Activator button/gesture.

Can be jailbroken and should be JB

Android users' main point when saying why is Android better is the "with Android I can do**** and with iPhone you cannot..."

The solution for that is Jailbreaking your phone, it just makes it much more useful and versatile.

Exactly, no android phone can compete with a jailbroken iphone.
 
I find Jailbreaking to be amazing on my iPhone 6 Plus, and a must have. No way would I be satisfied with a stock regular iPhone.

But I placed a thread on an Android site, and they were all laughing at me almost, saying JB an iPhone is not even close to the power of a rooted Android phone.

Is that true ? I rooted and ROM'd all my Android phones, and now Jailbreak my iPhone, to me they seem very similar, I can't recall some amazing crazy feature that rooted Android phones do that JB iPhone's can't ?
 
The list of items exclusive to android is pretty small and many of them include hardware that isn't available on iphone. JB iOS is very robust, I just feel both OS' are competitive

Most people would probably answer with simply tasker, which I dont use much, but its pretty crazy what you can automate

I guess if you are talking specific ROM features like multiwindow, pie controls etc.. maybe there are more. The biggest things for me are crossplatform continuity / airdroid and the ability to downgrade the OS if an update makes performance suffer. Along with not having to wait for a jailbreak. Nowadays the jb community is pretty rosey with the jailbreaks rolling in. Past wait times have not been so kind, thank you China!

To be fair, it all depends what you use. I used to JB all my iDevices (from 3G to 4S). When iOS 6 released, it has most things I need from JB and I stopped JBing. My iPad air and iPhone 6 is stock now and I am happy.

I am sure there are things that root Andriod/JBing can do and stock can't but if the users don't need it then why JB/ root it?

Another ex-Android user here. Tweaker, modder, ROMer, etc. Thus will be jailbreaking my 6+. I want to know if there is a similar app on Cydia to Tasker.
To me, Tasker (http://tasker.dinglisch.net/) was simply the best thing about Android. I'm hoping there is an equivalent, but understandable if it doesn't exist.

In a nutshell, Tasker was complete automation for your rooted/unrooted device. You can pretty much do anything you can think of. For example:
* Turn off Passcode and Pattern unlock when connected to home wifi and turn it back on when you disconnect
* Do certain things when connected to car: i.e. Dim screen if dark outside, load a playlist, disable passcode etc..etc..etc.

Anyway, if anyone can think of an alternative, paid or otherwise, would be greatly appreciative!!
