Hi, my room is facing a busy highway. The noise from heavy traffic especially on a rainy day drives me crazy. Using a pair of ear plugs do not work. Also, there are noise from TV outside my room. Without having music on, can the AirPods Pro and AirPods Max completely block out these noise? Which is better and comfortable to wear for long hours? I also have a Plantronics 80935-21 Audio 655. I felt pain after wearing it for a few minutes. Any other products better than these two?

The original noise cancellation would.
Ever since the first update noise cancellation has never been the same.

So I’d say “no.”

Memory-foam type earplugs are probably going to be the most effective, and they are also inexpensive. The AirPods Pro do just a so-so job at cancelling external noise. The AirPods Max do a better job than the Pros, but they still don't block as much noise as do foam earplugs.

The Max's will be the best you'll get.

I've never heard such effective cancellation and I've tried most all that exists.

The NC on the Max is way better than the APP also

I’ve tried both, find them better than earplugs in terms of noise, but not comfortable enough to sleep in.

Anybody tried both the Sony WH-1000XM4 and the AirPodsMax? Which is better for noise cancelling?

APM's are better at NC - no contest

Some people said APM is good for NC some type of noise while the XM4 is better at the others. I guess it may be subjective.

Problem is, for me, the APM is not comfortable to wear. The left cup presses my head too much to cause discomfort.

I can drive a small car on the highway and with the AirPods Pro still hear some noise/sounds. With the AirPod Max it’s getting close to silent. No, it’s not completely silent, but man, these are good. because I can hear almost nothing I don’t drive with the max, but driving with the pro is fine.

Its also much better then my Sony wh-1000xm3 and my b&o h9. Als better then the qc35 (not II) and obviously better then my wf-1000xm2.

Real simple guide to the NC Can space here:

Best NC?
APM

Best Comfort?
Bose QC 35's

Most of the other attributes across the many options of models are very subjective

"Comfort" is also very subjective.

To me, the APM are far more comfortable than the QC 35s, which left me with sweaty ears after about 15 minutes of wearing them. I'm not a fan of fake leather ear pads at all.

So, for me it would be:

Best NC?
APM

Best Comfort?
APM
