Hello folks

So i have a plan to connect iMac and macbook pro to audio receiver. Wireless is preferable though. That's why i'd like some setup with airport express. But i'm total noobs for APE. Please help generously (if u'd like to :) )

I see APE has 3.5mm port as stereo analog or mini toslink. If i connect mini toslink to receiver, can it do dolby/dts whenever i play dvd/hd movies on my iMac?

Is there any delay issue / out of sync audio if i stream 5.1 audio through APE?

Can I use APE with iPod touch i had to do the same? Yeah it would only be stereo, but is it doable?

What's the usb port on APE for? Only Printer? Or external hdd can be treated as NAS too? Would it be accesible from Mac?

Would i still need wifi router if i'm going to use airport express? Or it already behave as router too?

Any helps would be appreciated. Please dont mock me since i'm totally noob about airport express

when playing back videos in iTunes, remote speakers are not an option.

yes you can play movies on an iOS device, and have the audio come out of the airport express.

only printer.

it can function as a router, but is very limited.

If you want to do airport express wireless audio from other apps check out airfoil. It includes delay compensation so your video and audio are in sync. I hope in Lion, Apple will let us use AirPlay in Safari, QuickTime X, and other apps. From an in-depth report I read about FCPX, Apple is using an iOS architecture/framework. Hopefully it will come to Quichtime in Lion.
