Hey,
I was wondering if the X Ray machines at the airport can damage laptops (specifically a rMBP..) or their components (SSD, Battery and so on....)?

Thanks

This is a common question, which you can search, or simply scroll to the bottom of this page for similar threads.

But, bottom line: No, airport scanners cannot cause any damage to electronic components.

No people take their laptops with them to the airport, the xray machines pose no danger to your laptop :)

X-ray is a common inspection method for some electronic assemblies. Often for BGA, LGA and other leadless type parts it is the only way to observe that the joints are correctly(or incorrectly) soldered.

The x-ray at the airport won't do anything to your computer.

Back in the day when people used film cameras, there was a risk of x-ray damaged film, but modern electric devices should be fine.
