I have seen lots of threads about the family plans and such, but I may be in a unique situation:

Currently my family has a family plan with ATT but it is being paid through my dads small business. So instead of a Social Security number they asked for his Tax ID number when signing up

So we have 3 lines, I have the blackjack with the 40$ data plan, my dad has another phone without data and my mom has one without data.

When I get the iphone will we be paying less than the current extra 40$ for my data plan?

And will I be able to do this with the iTunes iPhone activation at home? Given we are using a tax id number for the account and I have a current data plan but in a sense would be downgrading or altering it?

Any help would be great!!

it sounds like a business account. I don't think you'll be able to sign up using a business account, but i don't know. the ss number is for the credit check i believe, so maybe if you're already an existing customer you won't have to put that stuff in?

^^ Its definitely a Family Plan not a business plan. It is just being paid by my dad through his company, so we were told everything was the same when we signed up, just that they would use a tax id number rather then a social.

I'm just concerned that there may not be an option for that with the in home activation. And what happens when you allready have a data plan like me and are paying more now then what the data plan for the iphone would be.

Of course we don't know yet, but i thought the video showed some selections for existing customers, like account number and such. I wonder if the social is still required for existing customers, they already have all the info, as they did the credit check when you first signed up.

I believe you can still make it work. If you watch the activation video, the guy in the video says you can get an skip the credit check number to bypass the social security number. I would think if your dad talks to ATT they will give him one the numbers.

As for switching the $40 data plan for the Iphone $20 data plan it should be done automatically, at least thats what the ATT rep I talked to said.

Get the iPhone to replace your Blackjack and if you are happy with the 200 sms messages your bill should go down by $20 a month.

You will not need the $40 plan for your blackjack so you can cancel that and get the $20 iPhone data plan.

Business accounts should be fine. Large Corporate Accounts are the ones that will not have access to the iPhone right now.
