Can Apple TV 4 send 5.1 sound to AirPlay speakers?

Hello,

My ATV4 is connected to my projector to the ceiling via HDMI. I then send the audio to an Airport Express across the room and my speakers are connected via Optical to the Airport Express.

My current speakers are stereo and I want to buy a 5.1 Home Cinema but if the ATV can only send stereo wirelessly it defeats the whole purpose.

Again I don't want to send 5.1 to ATV. I want the ATV to send 5.1 to my AirPort Express.

Last but not least I guess Airport Express can output 5.1 from its Optical Port.
