Can the Apple TV be used as kind of a mobile DVR? I'm looking to be able to bring it with me to my friends house, whenever we want to watch shows, and I buy the shows or content on my itunes account, and stream it to my Apple TV, but not on my wifi. As long as the content is on my iPhone, it can be streamed to the Apple TV, no matter what wifi network it's on? Sorry if this is confusing....

That should work fine. As long as your Apple TV and iPhone are on the same wifi network and set up with the same home sharing account, it should be an easy setup.

It goes even further than that.

If the content is on your iPhone, you can send it to ANY AppleTV using AirPlay, so if your friend buys an Apple TV, you don't have to carry yours back and forth.

Alternatively, you can stream at least some of your content direct to your Apple TV from the iTunes Store. This works for music and TV Shows, but not movies if I remember correctly. So, if you do take your AppleTV to a friend's house, you will be able to stream at least some of your purchased content even if it isn't all synced to your iPhone.

Thanks guys! She's not the best at paying her cable bill so sometimes we can't watch our weekly shows. but i don't mind paying for the shows through iTunes, and this way we can still watch them :)

Thanks.

yes! one of the things I love about the ATV - my brother comes over often with his iPhone wanting to show me something, he just hits that little envelope looking icon and it's on my TV.
