Can be the advanced 21,5" a good choice, if I game but I don't care graphics?

Hi.

Do you think that the 21,5" advanced model can be a good choice, for photo editing (Aperture, Lightroom...), work (Office, iWork) and some gaming?

I like gaming a lot, it's true. But I don't care graphics a lot, I can live with no ultra details.

There some games that I want to play, like Dragon Age, Mass Effect or Team Fortress 2.

I like the 21,5" with the i5. And it has to last at least 5 years. (Well, not with games, that's obvius)

Even if graphics were not crucial, the extra GPU horsepower is welcome because the games will run smoother and it will not become obsolete that fast.

I can play at 1440 instead of 1920, and medium details...

If you really like gaming you should buy a PS3. Much better IMO.

I recently bought a 3.2 GHz 21.5 inch iMac and I picked it over the 3.06 GHz model because of its better graphics (twice the RAM accessed at twice the speed). And I don't do any gaming at all. But I use lots of applications that hit the GPU and so do you, games or not. There is an ongoing effort to move work away from the CPU and onto the GPU where possible as the CPU speed is usually the limiting factor in overall performance. Having a better GPU setup helps more than you might think.

Also important although not often stated, if you ever plan to use a second (concurrent) display, that extra GPU speed and memory will be much appreciated.
