I had this thread a few days ago where I was encouraged to update my macbook mid 2014 to Big Sur.

However these threads make me worried:

Is this an actual risk? ... if so I'm not willing to take it!

I'm so disapointed at apple lately (my youtube does not work on my apple tv 3 either, it freezes ... so my trust in apple is not what it used to be).

Thnx

Hopefully it is fixed now since these computers are no longer blocked from updating. (11.0.1 20B50 blocked them from updating to Big Sur. 11.1 20C69 does not.)

But it is probably too early to tell if it is actually fixed and risk free to update.

I successfully updated my MacBook Pro 13" late 2013 from 11.0.1 to 11.1.

Regarding the Apple TV 3 Youtube issue;
There were an update (7.6.2) released yesterday that finally fixed the annoying Youtube-freezes-when-pausing bug.

Thank you great news ... do we have a thread here that evaluated when it's safe to update on a machine like mine?
I actually bought my machine totally new in 2016 (it was rather expensive) as far as I know it's produced in 2015 even though it's a 2014 model (or so they told me), it feels way to early to retire it yet.

I don't get how apple can even make errors like this ... it's totally unforgiveable.
They probably don't even compensate for the loses.

Will look after the update ... perhaps it hasn't hit here in denmark yet, though I'm rather sure I'm running 7.6.2 ... I downgraded to 7.6.1 as I remember (and that fixed the problem) but then the stupid ting updated it automatically, even though I have said it not to ... haha ... they push all their bricking updates so fast!

Just wanteded to say I risked the update ... and it didn't brik my mid 2014 13" macbook pro.
But god does it run aweful ... so I'm reverting back ... apps takes ages to load and runs much slower.
