Can Bootloader version be determined by S/N

As stated in the title, can the bootloader version of 3G iphones be determined by the serial number (manufacture date) of the phone?
I was told previously that iPhones manufactured before Sept. 2008 had a bootloader of 05.08, but have since run across a phone that had a 05.09 bootloader made in Sept. 2008.

The bootloader is apparently on a ROM that can't be altered by a firmware or Network update from the "mothership". The bootloader version also determines if the phone is unlockable (via fuzzyband) for use with an alternate carrier.

It would be nice to know this information by looking at the S/N

Try and get a phone that is older than a wek 40 phone. That can be found by looking at the serial #. The new bootloader came out during the week 40 batch of phones.

It can't be written in stone, week 40, 2008. (October)
I have a phone in my hand, week 34, 2008 (August) with a 05.09 bootloader

Unless... it also depends on the factory where assembled.
When running various serial numbers through this S/N, ID web Site:

I've identified at least two different factories, both in China, numbers 84 (Shenzhen, China) and 87(China).
Could this be the case, could the date vary by factory??
Thoughts please on this matter...

Anyone have any info on this point??

It would be nice to compile a list with manufacture date (S/N digits 3,4,5), factory number (S/N first two digits), and Bootloader version between July and Nov. of 2008 so that the transition between Bootloader 05.08 and 05.09 can be tracked.

The Bootloader version is even more important than the Baseband version, since the Baseband can be downgraded via Fuzzyband if the Bootloader is 05.08 or lower. Unfortunately, the Bootloader version is only easily visible when fuzzyband is run on a jailbroken phone.

Anyone know of a way to check the Bootloader version on a stock iPhone?
