Hi there.

In my country, name & docs(id card, passport or something else) required to do paperwork for warranty. These info just prints to warranty paper, seems for checking ownership when you will asks for repair.

As far I know, if you buy mac in Apple Authorised Reseller, they "register" device as sold for track warranty time.
So, the question which info resellers sends to Apple? Only serial number\sell date or also buyer info? Maybe someone here working in any reseller and knows "internal kitchen".

I'm little paranoid, just don't want to Apple(or someone else, except shop of course) can linking my docs with serial number\device ownership. Because in macos very easy to acces s\n, even no root needed. Any software can collect it and send in analytics for example. About icloud, appleid and other stuff, I just don't use it.

Yes, despite the fact that there are various privacy protection mechanisms.

It doesn't matter what info the reseller shares with Apple. For example, in my country there were reports of 3rd party customer management software leaking information or simply too weak in security and gets hacked. That's just one of many phases of a purchase. Each phase has a potential risk of associating your information with the serial number.

If you are paranoid with regard to this matter, perhaps buy second hand and give up the warranty? And only use cash, don't do the transaction online.

Anyway, I still curious for it, maybe someone here knows. Apple has more capacities to use that info than little shop. Leaking from shop's CRM is less threatening case, I think.

Using cash is oblivious, besides bank cards is not very popular in my country.

When you buy directly from Apple, they log your S/N with your AppleID for warranty and AppleCare support. In the absence of an AppleID, the information from your order (name, phone, address, etc.) is stored against the S/N. Whenever you take equipment in to Apple or an Authorized provider for service under AppleCare or warranty, that information is accessed and you will be asked to present identification to verify who you are. If you purchase AppleCare and resell the device, you should contact Apple and cancel the AppleCare coverage. This not only removes your information from being attached to the S/N, but also can get you a refund of the pro-rated cost of the AppleCare.

Thank you for answer. As I understand it for case of buying directly from Apple. (on apple.com).

I hope may be someone knows info about resellers, in other countries, etc. As far I understand, authorised resellers have something like accounts in specific Apple's service, it would be good to know what info sends there, I don't think this is any secret. I'm definitely curious.

I also bought apple device in neighbouring country in Authorised Reseller too, but they requested no info, only money. To get a warranty there you should only have original receipt. You even can buy device second hand and get service for warranty if you also get original receipt from second hand seller. It's usual situation in that country, for another manufacturers too.

I think interface of Apple's warranty tracking serivce for resellers is same for diffirent countries. So, I'm just try to know, sellers store info about customers in his CRMs or it's required to send to apple service too. Anyway, sold date and s\n is enouth for tracking warranty as we see on example on neighbouring country.

When I lived in Germany and purchased a new device from an authorized retailer (T-Mobile), the warranty was triggered and information passed to Apple by powering on and registering the device.

And warranty transfer after original purchase would be dependent on the local laws. In many places warranties are not transferable, so a used device in any form has no warranty unless it is sold with one from an Apple Store or authorized provider and specifically states that a factory warranty applies. In many cases the warranty for used items is provided by the reseller themselves.
