Hello,

I just ordered Parallels but haven't yet ordered any Windows versions or extra hardware, but I'm thinking I would probably like to get another usb HD (to match my existing one for time machine), and a copy of vista.

So will Parallels work as advertised (on my mac desktop) if I base vista on an external drive? What problems will this cause? (speed, interconnectivity etc)

I've found a few guides and threads suggesting that XP is not keen on running externally, so just looking for the best solution. I have no real problem with just partitioning my internal drive, but I like the sound of a separate drive more. And I love spending money on things I don't need.

Any thoughts much appreciated :)

But i need the cross os integration that parallels apparently does better.

It's here now anyway. It took less than 18 hours to make it to my house. Still wrapped though since I don't have a copy of windows yet, so original questions still stand I guess! :)
