Can 'Find My Mac' be used with the 2011 MacBook Airs?

I had been using the Find My Mac feature of iCloud to successfully locate my 2011 MacBook Air. Since the last beta update I can no longer turn that service on and see a message "Recovery partition required".

The 2011 Airs (I believe) don't have a recovery partition; instead using internet recovery.

Does anyone know anything more about this? Is there a way to create a recovery partition?

Just upgraded to 10.7.2 GM, on a 2011 MBA. I cannot activate the "Find My Mac", it says: "Recovery system update required" and there update button is visible (but if clicked no updates are found)...

I'm on a 27" iMac 2011 and having the same problem.

I can turn it on, but if I go to iCloud to find my mac, it says it is not connected to the internet.
Well, I have to say that when I've searched for updates, it has found two: Recover partition update (around 450Mb) and the 10.7.2 update. Maybe my Lion clean install is related to this recover partition.

I'm using MacBook Pro 13" 2010.

Same Problem

I'm having the same problem. I have a 2009 MBP 13". I recently installed an SSD and replaced the optical bay with an HHD. I thought that might be the source of the problem, but it seems like airs and iMacs are having it too.

Yeah the Airs have a recovery partition. You can boot to it and it'll download Lion for you. Or alternately you can also boot via Internet Recovery which installs the recovery partition then continues to download Lion.

Try reinstalling Lion Recovery Update from the Apple downloads site.

So, I did get "Find my Mac" enabled, but it can't actually locate my mac. I get the message: "No location available." (Location services are enabled on my mac in system preferences). I can play a sound, however.

I can find my iPod and iPad that are on the same network. The Mac is connected to the router directly over ethernet. The iPod and iPad are using wifi. Is that why it can't locate it?

Edit: Find my Mac works over wifi only, not ethernet.

I can enable find my mac, but I cannot see that on iCloud.
Maybe server is too busy?

still not working

I tried to install the Lion Recovery Update, but got the error message "Lion Recovery Update can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating JavaScript for the package.
2009 MBP 13"

Update: I reinstalled Lion using Lion Recovery Disk Assistant on a USB thumb drive, and magically Find My Mac worked!
