Can I buy AppleCare from a different country

The price of AppleCare in Japan is over 240USD, a little bit expensive for me.

If I buy one from Apple Store US( it will be shipped to my cousin's address in California), can I register it successfully through Apple Japan?

If anyone had the same experience, please kindly let me know.

I beg to differ. Unless Apple has changed things since I got mine, what the original poster suggests is quite possible.

I bought my MacBook from the US store and got it shipped through a friend back to me in Australia. I purchased the AppleCare with the MacBook. I registered it in Australia and have had absolutely no problems claiming repairs through it. In fact, I had several problems with my original MacBook to the point that I had to get it completely replaced, and everything was covered with the AppleCare protection.

I'm not sure what exactly went wrong in the thread linked above, but what you're proposing to do is almost exactly what I have done, except that you're in Japan and I'm in Australia.

I found out a warning "Please purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan in your country of residence" on the Japanese support page of AppleCare

However, I think our cases are different. You bought both the MacBook and the AppleCare in US, so it seems OK.But in my case, I am gonna buy the iMac in Japan, and then order the AppleCare separately from US. I'm not sure if it would be possible.

In that case you are probably correct. I assumed you were also buying the Mac from the US store.
