Whenever I get free time off from school, usually on breaks. I get really into gaming, either be on my xbox 360 or my Mac. And I am just wondering how my core 2 duo macbook unibody with 4gb ram will stack up when it comes to gaming. I realize its not the best or even close when it comes to gaming. But will it be able to hold its own in the gaming world? I am currently playing Diablo 3 and might get back into WoW (have been playing on/off since release). I might even pick up a few more computer games this summer if I do really get into comp. gaming. So how will my macbook do when it comes to gaming. Is there anything I can do to improve it etc? Thanks

P.S i am also looking for a gaming mouse...thinking about buying the logitech g400, anyone have any good/bad experiences with it? Thanks!!

the cpu is a 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo

Graphics card is: NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB

Is that a shared or dedicated graphics card.

I have the NVidia 320M in my Macbook Air and will not upgrade because it is a discreet GPU and not shared. I tried D3, but it is too much of a compromise for me personally.

I do play WoW,Quake4, Doom3 and other games and have had reasonable results and would expect that you should as well depending on the game.

Depends on the game, but I think you will be able to run all older games, and some/many recent games fairly well.

I can play Skyrim on my 2010 mac mini (with same specs as yours, just I have a cruddy hard drive) at about 25-30 frames per second typically, with some slow down to about 20fps when things get hairy. (I should be more specific, playing Skyrim in Bootcamp).

I play D3 and Wow with high settings no problem on my 2010 MBP, but mine's the i7 with the 512mb GFX card

I have a 2010 11" MacBook Air with the same GPU and have always been surprised at how well it handles gaming. Sure, its far from a powerhouse, but if you have reasonable expectations its just fine. The Mass Effect, Bioshock, FEAR, Fallout, Portal, and Trine series, Dead Island, SWTOR, Bastion, the Walking Dead, and the Darkness II are some games that run well in my experience. You'll need to dial down the settings significantly on some of the newer, more demanding games (like Deus Ex HR), and some might not even run at all, but there are lots of great old and newer games you can play with this GPU. Bootcamp is a must though for most of these games, and D3 even runs pretty well in Windows 7.

I play Diablo 3, Bastion, Portal 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2, and a few others frequently on my 2010 MacBook unibody. I did, however, upgrade it from 2gb of ram to 8gb. The gaming performance in OSX is terrible, so I agree that Bootcamp is a must to get decent framerates.

Diablo 3 is playable in OSX, but at lowest settings. In bootcamp I can raise the resolution a bit and set everything to Medium-ish and get 25-40 FPS.
